Join us on to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month and watch ‘Neirud’, 2023, by Fernanda Faya. 🌈🏳️⚧️
🎞️ Neirud died shrouded in mystery, leaving no trace of her past behind. Confronting family secrets, the filmmaker pieces together the life of her enigmatic aunt, who toured Brazil as a wrestler in an all-women's circus troupe throughout the 1960s and 1980s. As she delves into Neirud's controversial persona in the ring, the filmmaker uncovers a taboo-breaking love story, revealing the surprising nature of Neirud's role within her own family.
We will also be screening another short film in partnership with Mov Festival, The International Student Film Festival of Pernambuco, Brazil. ⭐

🎞️ Rebu is a first-person documentary that sets out to investigate the most diverse performances of masculinity within the director's lesbian experience, taking into account her last three relationships and also interviews with her father. With ease and debauchery, the film tackles themes such as flirtatious talent, flexibility with the truth, emotional irresponsibility, impulsiveness and romance. These themes permeate the lives of the two characters, even though they are separated by a generational, cultural and gender gap.

Fado Bicha
We’re so excited to announce that @fadobicha will play their first-ever London gig at Love Affair Basement on Saturday 9 November!
Fado Bicha are known for their powerful reinterpretations of traditional Portuguese fado music, infusing mournful classics with modern themes of LGBTQ+ resistance, anti-fascism, and social justice.
Their lyrics and performances challenge historical power structures, using the melancholic tones of fado music to communicate resilience and protest discrimination.
Later, the band will be followed by a DJ set from @danceintongues
